Invest in your child's future

Makarewa School has a very active P.T.A. committee who voluntarily get together for the good of the school and our children. The P.T.A. is responsible for organising social activities, fundraising projects, welcoming new families to the school and generally supporting the school. It is an excellent way to become involved in the school and in your child’s education.

Our objective is to:

• Promote a sense of community among the parents, caregivers, teachers and children by organising events where we can all come together
• Raise funds to allow extra resources and items to be purchased to enhance our school and improve the achievement of our children.

Although the PTA is autonomous, we work very closely with the staff, principal and our Board of Trustees to ensure we are all heading in the same direction enabling us to reach our goals.

The PTA meetings are held monthly, are normally around one hour in duration and are a lot of fun. Keep a look out in our school newsletter for our next meeting.

• Donation towards new Playground Equipment (2006)
• Representative Tracksuits (2006)
• New Library Books (2006, 2007, 2008)
• New Staffroom Chairs (2006)
• Push Play Activity Packs (2006)
• Two new Picnic Tables (2006)

All parents and caregivers are part of the PTA. Anyone is welcome to join the committee although we appreciate many cannot attend meetings or perhaps cannot spare the time. If we could call on you from time to time to assist please let us know.
